Welcome to Albany Dental Group where what we do will make you smile.
Root canal is caused by damage to the pulp tissue that is located in the middle of the tooth. Typically, the tissue cannot mend itself and a root canal procedure can be used in order to save the tooth. After a successful root canal procedure you should not have tooth sensitivity or ongoing discomfort. With proper maintenance, the results should last for many years.
If you need relief from an aching tooth, call and make an appointment with our caring and professional staff.
With local anesthetics and a comfortable environment in our office, you will not feel any discomfort during or after the procedure. If you want a quick end to the pain you are suffering, call and make an appointment to get into our office as soon as possible.
The first step is to evaluate if a root canal is even necessary. That requires X-rays and testing the pulp to determine the health of the tooth. This will help determine what the exact problem is and whether a root canal procedure is a viable treatment.
If the root canal procedure is the course of action, then you will be given a local anesthetic. Once the tooth is numb, the tooth will be opened in order to take out the damaged pulp. The inner canals are then cleaned. The root canal can be filled same day or the following week. The tooth is then capped with a crown and you are as good as new.
