Welcome to Albany Dental Group where what we do will make you smile.
When a critical area of the chewing surface of the tooth is damaged, we may recommend a Dental Inlay, also known as a partial crown. The existing portion of this the tooth is used as a base. This will strengthen the tooth and begin to shape the tooth back to the tooth’s original attributes. Inlays are used when no damaged has occurred to the cusp of the teeth. The Inlay material is then cemented to the target tooth that has been prepared to replace the decayed portion of the tooth. The Inlay is applied inside the cusp tips of the tooth.
An impression of the tooth is sent to the dental lab for fabrication. The dental restoration takes 2 – 3 weeks to make, so a temporary restoration will be placed until the inlay is received. During the second visit in the office, the Inlay will be placed in your mouth and dental cement will be used to hold the Inlay firmly in place. You will have that confident smile back in no time at all.
